The following information was provided to the Telegraph, Register Herald and Hinton News. I will include photos on this site when I get them from our photographer. Thanks for participating and we would love to see you again next year on 14 May, 2011. See you then!

The 3rd annual Bluestone River Wild 5k was run on Saturday, 15 May 2010 at Bluestone State Park where 50 runners and 16 walkers finished the course. Tyler Kosut (15 years old) of Daniels, WV, set a new course record at 19:05. Sarah Phillips (16 years old) of Beaver, WV, set a new women’s course record at 23:16. The race was held as a fund raiser for the Summers County Relay for Life event. The race was sponsored by PracticeLink and MountainPlex of Hinton, WV, and supported by the Southern West Virginia Road Runners Club.

Ready to Run or Walk?

Race weekend is coming! For all the newcomers to this event, WELCOME we are glad to have you.
Details of the race include:
  • The Bluestone River Wild 5k will be competed on 15 May 2010 with a start time of 9AM and registration beginning at 8AM.
  • Registration fee is $15 with proceeds going toward the Summers County Relay for Life event
  • T-shirts guarenteed to the first 50 to register and participate
  • The event is held on Bluestone State Park near the swimming pool, just take Route 20 to the park and then follow the main road to the park office, then bear left following the signs to the pool parking area.
  • The race begins by circling the Meador Campground and then make a left on the main road, continue all the way to the back of the park at the Wildlife Management Area gate. Participants will then return to the Old Mill Campground and circle through that area. The event then returns to the main road and continues back to the entrance of the Meador Campground.
  • Awards will be provided to the Overall male and female runners.
  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards for both Men and Women in all age groups in both the run and walk.
  • Age groups are 5 year increments starting at 14 and under all the way to 65 and over - lots of winners!
  • Refreshments and door prize drawing following the event
This is our third year and participation is growing with each event, we are still small though so there is a great chance to leave with an award. Come on out to the park on Saturday May 15th and have a nice run, jog, or walk in the woods while supporting the Summers County Relay for Life fund raiser sponsored by MountainPlex/Practice Link of Hinton.
